JUDGE IAN DUBIENSKI AWARD
The Award
The Judge Ian Dubienski Award was established on the 30th anniversary of the Manitoba Criminal Justice Association (MCJA) to honor the memory and legacy of the Association’s founder, Judge Ian Dubienski.
At the time of his death, Judge Dubienski was an Honorary Lifetime member on the MCJA Board of Directors. His contributions to the Association (originally known as the Manitoba Society of Criminology) and to crime prevention and community development made a lasting impact to the province of Manitoba.
Who can be nominated?
Any person or persons, group or organization that has made an outstanding contribution to furthering the goals and objectives of the Manitoba Criminal Justice Association.
Judging criteria
The goals and objectives of the MCJA are as follows:
1. Encourage cooperation among citizens in Manitoba interested in problems resulting from criminal behavior;
2. Participate in programs that increase public awareness and understanding of the current Canadian criminal justice issues;
3. Coordinate and promote crime prevention strategies through community involvement of neighborhoods, schools, police, business groups, and all levels of government;
4. Encourage criminological research.
Award selection
The Judge Ian Dubienski Award recipient will be selected by an MCJA Committee comprised of:
· MCJA President
· Four MCJA Board members
· One MCJA member-at-large
